The 1965 Nordic Folkboat Iken was built with a plywood deck, which was sheathed from new with canvas. This was beginning to reach the end of its life and before small leaks caused major damage it was decided to remove the canvas and resheath the deck using epoxy resin and glass cloth. New toerails, rubbing strakes and quadrants were fitted in sepele and varnished. The deck finish is "yacht finish", which gives excellent non-slip central areas and smooth borders for masking and cleaning. Over the years, this system has proved very successful, being durable, requiring next to no maintenance and easy to clean.
